Family Friends

  • Kites volunteers are called "Family Friends"
  • All Family Friends have parenting experience and/or have first hand experience of how difficult raising a family can be.
  • Kites recruit and train Family Friends from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and walks of life.
  • Family Friends receive initial training and ongoing support.
  • Kites pay out-of-pocket expenses to the Family Friends.
  • Family Friends complete an enhanced police check before being carefully placed with a family.

Family Friends; the role

  • Family Friends visit families in their own homes for about 2 hours per week.
  • Family Friends befriend and support a specific family for as long as support is needed.
  • Family Friends offer both emotional and practical support to families, dependent upon the family's specific needs.

 

The Board of Trustee Volunteers

The Board of Trustees who govern the organisation are also volunteers. They bring various skills to the Board to ensure that the organisation meets its objectives. If you feel you have skills that would enhance the Board we would like to hear from you.
